See ya later (not Goodbye) ;)

The time allotted to post is up. Thanks to everyone for their work this semester. I know that sometimes it wasn't easy, but we made it! I learned so much from all of you and will take all of your lessons with me to my future classes. Thanks for helping me to be a better teacher. Best of luck to you all.
I will be posting your blog mark as a comment on your last post. It is 10% of your grade. 1 point for each post and one point for each comment made (2 per post, for a total of twelve). 6 posts, and 12 comments == a grand total of 18 points.

Post # 6 - Almost time to say goodbye.....

We are in the last few weeks of the program. I really enjoyed our class and am fortunate to have had the pleasure of getting to know all of you. Thank you so much for all of your hard work on assignments, vocabulary, literature circle, and in-class studies. This is our final blog post! I would like for you to write about your plans for what is to come after this course finishes. What do you want to do? What do you have to do? Where are you going to go? Anything else you care to share is cool :)

All of you have been living in Canada for at least 6 weeks now. In this post I would like you share your experience of living in a new country, speaking primarily English, and adapting to the lifestyle of a new culture. Compare your life in Canada with your life in your home country. Think about how things are different, or how they are similar. Share as much as you are comfortable sharing.
Thanks!

Listen to the TED talk by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of 'Eat, Pray, Love', and write a response based on your ideas of success and failure. What is your definition of success? Is it happiness? Love? Money? Being able to help others? Pursuing a dream? How do you deal with success and failure?

Post # 2- A Personal Connection to a Song

In your second post I would like for you to share the song that you chose for your Narrative Essay. Share the song by creating a link in your post. Write about why you chose the song and the personal connection you have to it. This is a good opportunity to practice writing fluency. Do not copy your first draft of your narrative essay into this post! Just write.... :)
The song that I chose to share with you today is Master Pretender by First Aid Kit. First Aid Kit is a Swedish folk duo that I just love. I have a strong personal connection to the song, Master Pretender.
I heard this song when it was first released. I was in a time in my life where I was feeling really good and starting to feel like "me" again, after my heart had been broken. This song reminded me that I am strong, even though sometimes experiences in life will make me feel low and weak. Now, whenever I hear this song I remember how I felt when I was suffering from a broken heart, and look at how I feel now - strong and full of love. It helps me to show myself love, and demonstrate empathy and compassion for others that might be in a place of despair or suffering. As well, if I hear this song while I am driving, I know all of the words and can sing along really loudly and that makes me feel alive.

Welcome to the RW5 class blog :) Please start your blog by writing a few paragraphs about yourself. Where are you from? Why are you in Calgary studying English? What are some of your hobbies? and MORE! Please feel free to add pictures or links to interesting and relevant websites.
